Hello!!!
Use Istation at home to practice more Reading skills. Parent instructions were sent home on Monday, 9/12.

Mama Mia! What awesome readers you will be!
Be sure you are reading your books at home too. Ongoing Reading homework is 15-20 minutes each day. You will be reading during Daily Five "Read to Self" during our Reading Cafe.
Be sure to include your book titles on your personal Book Log Menu which will be kept in your Red Reading folder. You will color in a new "Book-a-roni" each time you complete a book!
Work towards your end of year goal DAILY! :)
Remember to practice "Word Attack" skills that we talked about in our Cafe time. Look at the end of the word first...ask yourself have I seen these ending letter patterns on many other words that I know? Sound it out. Next, go to the beginning of the word...ask yourself what do these consonant blends or vowel patterns sound like together? Sound it out. Last, go to the middle of the word...ask yourself about these patterns or roots that you might see. Sound it out. Now that you have decoded each syllable of the word, put all these sounds together! :)
"Word Attack" gives you the tools to be independent with new and interesting words in your books during Cafe time!
Cafe Gathering:
- Understand what "point of view" is with characters from BOS to EOS
- Review fix up strategies when meaning breaks down in our independent reading
- Synthesize information from text--finding and highlighting important chunks of information
- Practicing word attack and fluency
- Leave tracks of your thinking with non-fiction reading
- Working on our Reading goals in our Reading Cafe folders
All year...
Various activities/strategies identifying story elements are an ongoing part of Cafe each week. Buddy Reading and Read to Self time will be done each week encouraging all reading expected behaviors as we work on our personal reading goals! :) Happy Reading!
Our Library Day is each Friday from 11:30-12:30.
